![]() Mental health professionals use the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) as one source of information about a patient's mental health, alongside observations and discussions with the patient. Ben-Porath is considered one of the top experts on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), as he coauthored many of the most recent versions of the test. There’s also the MMPI-A and MMPI-A-RF, which are two different versions of the personality test intended for adolescents ages 14–18. After the MMPI-2 was published in 1989, the MMPI-2-RF followed in 2008, and the MMPI-3 was published in 2020. Newer scales aimed to identify symptoms tied to various mental health disorders. ![]() Older versions of the test focused on clinical scales, each representing a clinical condition. The update revised outdated or offensive content and updated scales without making decades of research obsolete. In 1989, an updated version of the test, called the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2), was released. By 1976, the test had been translated into 50 languages for global use. The test they created was first published in 1942 and gained widespread acceptance by the late 1950s. The gun was improved already in the early beginning, with rifling of the barrel, and the rifle was born. The new weapon left only a mark on the target, where the arrow used to be visible, and with the bow gone, the soldiers title changed to marksman, the man who put the mark. The archer now had to adapt to the new situation, and learn to handle the gun. The introduction of gunpowder arms replaced the bow and arrow from the archer, the soldier who used the bow. The term benchmark, originates from the history of guns and ammunition, in regards to the same aim as for the business term comparison and improved performance. In 1994, one of the first technical journals named Benchmarking was published. These also are known as interim government. According to National Council on Measurement in Education, benchmark assessments are short assessments used by teachers at various times throughout the school year to monitor student progress in some area of the school curriculum. In this way, they learn how well the targets perform and, more importantly, the business processes that explain why these firms are successful. ![]() In the process of best practice benchmarking, management identifies the best firms in their industry, or in another industry where similar processes exist, and compares the results and processes of those studied (the "targets") to one's own results and processes. In project management benchmarking can also support the selection, planning and delivery of projects. Benchmarking may be a one-off event, but is often treated as a continuous process in which organizations continually seek to improve their practices. This then allows organizations to develop plans on how to make improvements or adapt specific best practices, usually with the aim of increasing some aspect of performance. Īlso referred to as "best practice benchmarking" or "process benchmarking", this process is used in management in which organizations evaluate various aspects of their processes in relation to best-practice companies' processes, usually within a peer group defined for the purposes of comparison. Dimensions typically measured are quality, time and cost.īenchmarking is used to measure performance using a specific indicator (cost per unit of measure, productivity per unit of measure, cycle time of x per unit of measure or defects per unit of measure) resulting in a metric of performance that is then compared to others. ![]() ![]() So what was the difference between Slack and us? Basically focus, they defined their niche from day one and focused on that while we were trying to solve everyone’s problem, which is tempting but ultimately wrong.Īt that time we were almost 20 people with local branches in 5 different countries and cash flow was starting to become an issue. We were growing but way too slow compared to what was originally planned and the current scale of our company. As history now shows, the idea of what we were trying to solve was great but that was all we had in common: 6 years later Slack was filling their IPO while we were struggling to grow. Remember I mentioned we had a team collaboration product? Well, almost at the same time we launched, another unknown company started solving a similar problem, a startup you might have heard of: Slack ?. And we were right, open rates went over the roof, up to 5X what we got from in-app messages using our live chat app and more than 10X what we got from similar email campaigns. At the time it was just an awful form for new posts, a basic newsfeed and the unread notifications red bubble.Īll hail the power of the mighty unread notifications bubble ! Being natively integrated as part of the app our users instinctively knew that those notifications had to be relevant. So we created a real MVP, and what I mean by real is that is was really minimal. ![]() We not only wanted to let our users know about new features but also have a repository of past updates so they, and especially new users, knew that we were constantly improving our app. What we knew was that our users were really reading our in-app notifications, probably because it was a native part of our app and people hate to leave unread notifications, so we decided to add a small notification center dedicated just to changelog and release notes content. Blog: Let’s face it, nobody knows when there’s a new post and most people don’t want to spend 15 minutes reading a long form technical release notes.Emailing: One of the most over abused channels, open rates for this kind of messages were way too low and engagement was even lower.In-app messages: It was our main communication channel for sales, support and onboarding so we didn’t want to abuse it and have some of our most important business messages ignored.Hard to set up and very dev resource intensive. In-app product tours: Worked great for core features but could be overwhelming if you don’t limit them. ![]() ![]() We tried several solutions but none of them worked: Soon we realized that one of the most difficult product-related tasks was figuring out a good Feature Discovery strategy, in other words letting our users know there was a new feature they can now use to improve their experience. We were growing fine and adding many features to the product. Mariano Rodriguez (right) and co-founder Spencer Coon (left), just before launching the Beta version of Beamer We wanted to target all non tech-savvy small companies all around the world, a very ambitious goal which later proved to be our biggest mistake. Our idea was simple, to solve two big problems for SMBs, communication and coordinating tasks, by combining team messaging with task management in one app. The journey begins.Ħ years ago, my co-founder Spencer Coon, and I started a team collaboration SaaS called Hibox. My name is Mariano Rodriguez Colombelli, co-founder of Beamer and in this post I want to share the journey that took us from almost going bankrupt to pivoting and now being halfway to the holy grail of early stage startups, $1 million in annual recurring revenue (with a team of only 5!). Today Beamer is used by more than 5000 companies, including many of the top 100 SaaS in the world. Nearly 2 years ago we built a small internal app for our former startup that lately evolved into Beamer, a complete changelog and release notes tool for SaaS who need to keep their users updated about their latest products changes and get their feedback. ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() Shardlight has Wadjet Eye's typical pixel artstyle. While doing such a job, Amy Wellard comes into contact with the resistance, trying to overthrow the aristocracy. While the rich live happily ever after, the common folks has to take on dangerous jobs to get a lottery ticket, in hopes to win a dose of vaccine. In a world destroyed after a not further explained bombing, people suffer from a disease called Green Lung. Seems like it released a while ago already, but only made its way to GOG now.įinally I came around to play Shardlight, another game from Wadjet Eye, that's been on my wishlist for ages. I also left some impression in the game's OT.ĭon't know if he played it yet, but KnivesAndCoins wrote he bought it a while back in this thread. The enviroment is beautiful and the puzzles are fun, although they could have been a bit more challenging at times. They don't do anything fancy here, but there are some nice easter eggs to be found. If you are familiar with Lovecraft, you pick up on things pretty quick. While having her completely silent would be stupid as well, this is the other extreme, that seemed a bit excessive. Often she reacts to notes you pick up, before you even have time to read the text yourself. ![]() Not even the tiniest thing goes without some sort of comment from her. Nora is the opposite of a silent protagonist. In rare cases there are some shortcuts to unlock, but there is still a lot of walking to do, what can be a bit exhausting. Still the puzzles themselves are always entertaining.Ī bigger problem are the quite long ways one has to walk back and forth. I even found it a tiny bit too easy in this regard. Nora's notes and her reacting to everything helps to push the player into the right direction on top. Overall the puzzles are on the easy side, except for one or two more challenging ones. In first person Nora examines the island, always taking notes in her notebook. ![]() It also offers a FOV slider and the game didn't make me nausea. There can still be some light stutter here and there, but overall it ran pretty well on my humble rig. Upon release the performance was said to be really rough, but luckily most of it got patched out. The island is a real nice setpiece, with vibrant colors in a light chellshade look. So now Nora herself tracks the footsteps of her husband to find him, bringing her to a beautiful island full of mysteries, with a light Cthulhu touch. Hoping to find a cure, her husband set out on an expedition, but the crew never returned. ![]() But read the diary carefully especially looking for words that might suggest what to use for the others.Myst-alike + Lovecraft universe + tropical island = Call of the Sea.ġ934 - Nora is suffering from an unknown disease, which already killed her mother. He seems to have a strong emotional connection to the events depicted there. The most important thing is the portrait. Almost everything can be deducted from the diary. This is in my opinion the hardest part of the game. But I have zero clue which one of those five it could be. Then there's the fourth element, which seems to be fertilized soil. I've managed to make the bean recipe, and it goes in the cauldron, then I've added some menthol mouthwash there, also I'm pretty sure that Pinot Noir wine goes there but I really don't know which one. I figured out already that I have to put 4 things in the cauldron. Originally posted by Kuulintu:Bah, now I'm utterly stuck in chapter III. ![]() |
